US President Donald Trump has confirmed Pakistan's report that the US and Iran have reached a deal to end military operations.

The agreement constitutes the most notable diplomatic development since the strikes on Iran began Feb. 28. American and Israeli forces decapitated the Iranian government by reportedly acting on information that many of the country’s top leaders would be in the same place at the same time.

Pakistan said an interim US-Iran deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could be finalized within 24 hours, raising expectations that the sides may be nearing a broader agreement after recent skirmishes near the strategic waterway.

Pakistan, a key mediator, says the agreement will end "military operations on all fronts" and be signed on Friday in Switzerland.
