Caffè Nero has reportedly submitted the winning bid to take over Washington D.C. coffee chain Compass Coffee, weeks after being confirmed as the stalking horse bidder for the bankrupt franchise.

The multinational coffee company will continue to operate 17 D.C.-area cafes under the Compass brand.

The objection comes as the Bankruptcy Court gets set for a Thursday hearing on the proposed sale.
